I ended up not actually needing it as both my barrel and my gas block came from Aero Precision, and the block is meant to be shoved directly against the collar. I did, however get peace of mind learning this to be the case. It helped me to diagnose a clogged, from the factory, gas tube. While there is not much to the Genie, it is a very well thought out build aid that no one who enjoys assembling rifles should be without. It, very easily, insures that your block is not only over the barrel port, it also allows you to align it dead center over the top of the barrel. While it did not have any real effect on where I put this one, it will undoubtedly be used by me again and again. Sometimes it's the simple things that are the most impressive.

This was my first AR-15 build and it made the gas block alignment perfect the first try. No do and redo just straight on to a fun afternoon of shooting.
